Education continues to be an important element of life in Vermilion Parish.  The Parish prides itself in having an excellent educational system that exceeds expectations on the state level.  Vermilion Parish students continue to outperform all other districts in Region 4 (Acadia, Lafayette, Evangeline, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin) in the areas of 4th grade English Language Arts, 8th grade English Language Arts, and 8th grade Math when comparing all students scoring at the Proficient level (basic and above).  Students in Vermilion Parish scored above the state average in the percent of students scoring basic and above in English Language Arts at the 4th and 8th grades and in Math at the 4th, 8th and 10th grades. The district equaled the state average in 10th grade ELA.
