Vermilion Parish Rabies Control Officers respond to all complaints called in the office. Most calls are for stray dogs and cats. We also receive calls on such animals as raccoons, skunks and opossums. When responding to a call an Animal Control Officer must enforce the Parish Ordinance.
All animals in Vermilion Parish must be vacinated for rabies. Please, remember to vacinate your pets!
Animal Control houses and cares for all animals picked up within the parish, including animals that are dropped off by the public.
Vermilion Parish Animal Control Officers also investigates animal cruelty issues citations for persons who continuously ignores the Parish Ordinances. Animal Control Officers also handle all animal bites occurring within the parish. A complete report with pictures are put on file of each and every animal bite.

- Keep all strays off the streets
- Try to find homes for the animals
